Heroes of the Hemisphere, Romero BrittoWASHINGTON / (PRNewswire) — Internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Romero Britto will create an original work of art that will be auctioned at the Oct. 24 Heroes of the Hemisphere celebration in Miami, the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) announced today.

“As an artist, it is my desire to share a vision of hope, happiness and beauty with the world,” says Britto. “PADF’s Heroes of the Hemisphere celebrates five people who have done extraordinary work to create a brighter future for the less fortunate among us. This piece is my way of contributing to their recognition.”

Always the artistic innovator, the Brazilian-born artist will unleash his brilliant, colorful style on the Heroes of the Hemisphere signature logo of a thumbprint and its tagline “Make Your Mark on Humanity.” While Britto’s canvas is on display at the Oct. 24 gala luncheon, a group of VIPs will be invited to place their own fingerprint on it to symbolize their personal “Mark on Humanity.”

Britto’s work will be auctioned to the public, with proceeds going to both PADF and the Romero Britto Foundation.

Heroes of the Hemisphere will celebrate five people from Cuba, Colombia, El Salvador and Haiti on Saturday, Oct. 24, in Miami. The program brings together 350 leaders from business, government, diplomacy, philanthropy and entertainment.

“Britto’s compassion for people aligns perfectly with our mission and the goal of the Miami program. We’re excited to have him associated with Heroes of the Hemisphere,” says PADF Board President Frank Gomez.

Britto’s art is on display in museums and sold in galleries around the world. In addition to his commercial success, Britto has been applauded for being an artistic activist. He donates artwork to more than 300 non-profit organizations each year. Britto lives and works in Miami.
