The release of Tim Burton’s film version of Alice in Wonderland this past March has put the spotlight back on Lewis Carroll’s classic 1865 fairytale along with the many artistic visualizations of the novel.
It turns out that just like the rest of us, Surrealist Master Salvador Dali was intrigued by Alice in Wonderland, and he created a suite of lithographs in response to the literary classic. The Ansin Family Art Gallery in the Miramar Cultural Center is currently showcasing these rare lithographs in a Salvador Dali exhibition: Down the Rabbit Hole.

Throughout his career, Salvador Dali was inspired to put his own creative spin on a variety of literary masterpieces. For instance, Dali illustrated the Divine Comedy as well as the Holy Bible (examples of which Park West Gallery is proud to offer collectors across the globe). Dali’s illustrative works give viewers a unique opportunity to perceive classic literature through a surrealist lens.
