TAYLOR SWIFT GETS THE POP ART TREATMENT
December 9, 2010 (People.com) — Taylor Swift is receiving the ultimate (and colorful!) early birthday gift from iconic artist Peter Max.
The pop artist has painted a vibrant portrait of Swift’s Speak Now album cover. And it’s not the first time the Grammy winner, who turns 21 Monday, has been Max’s muse: He painted four versions of her Fearless album cover earlier this year, which he gave to her as a gift. (One version of the painting is now hanging in Swift’s Nashville apartment.)
The portraits commemorate another milestone for Swift. Max’s inspiration, Speak Now, was just certified triple-platinum earlier this week by the Recording Industry Association of America.
“I’ve been doing portraits of iconic musicians for so many years,” Max, who has also painted for six presidents, says. “She is one of the most beautiful and talented stars we have today.”
