The Henry To Wear New Look From Park West Gallery

DEARBORN (WWJ/CBS Detroit) / April 9, 2011 – In upscale hotels you generally find that those that feature fine art usually keep it contained in a gallery, but visitors to The Henry (formally The Ritz) in Dearborn, will find the hallways and the rooms decorated with the works of artists like Peter Max.

“It’s interesting, today everything is different, you know, 50 years ago it had to be in a gallery, in a museum, today it’s everywhere,” says Max to WWJ’s Pat Sweeting.

Park West Gallery is celebrating its 42nd anniversary this weekend with the major Collectors Gala Event held at the Henry. Attendees have a chance to bid on hundreds of works of fine art. They’re also getting a chance to meet and chat with people like world-famous artist Peter Max who has a number of pieces in the auctions. Artists Itzchak Tarkay and David Najar are also attending.

“We’re going to see the art in hotel rooms be beautiful, the art in the hallways be beautiful, so its kind of exciting for us,” says Park West Gallery CEO Albert Scaglione.

Park West Gallery has also agreed to place part of its collection throughout The Henry in corridors, lobbies and restaurants creating a truly art-themed hotel.

Another Fine Experience with Park West Gallery

“My husband, John, and I took the Carnival Liberty over Thanksgiving and brought along our 6 1/2 yr. old granddaughter Melody, who was the youngest child with the VIP group. Melody has been exposed to much artwork and she was able to recognize many of the artists, mostly by their technique or subject matter.

Melody had the great experience of painting for almost an hour with abstract artist Tim Yanke, on a piece entitled Yankee Doodle 11 (shown below).

Tim and his wife, Nicky, were so kind to Melody and we were able to meet their two nice sons. Of course we purchased the piece!! Talk about being painted into a corner. The artwork just arrived yesterday and it is spectacular.

Simon Bull and David Najar were also on board and when it came time to purchase their works, Melody did the actual bidding. The staff of the auction, Chris, Samantha, Rebecca and Simon were so knowledgeable, warm and friendly that they helped make the trip memorable.

Again, another fine experience with Park West Gallery.”

In meeting Ansophie and Shaun I must say they are the most pleasant and caring people that I have met on the ships. They truly made you feel cared for and taught me many things. First off, we would like to thank Park West for the kind invitation to be a part of the Mexican Riviera cruise in December in celebration of the Gallery’s 40th anniversary. What an amazing even it was with not only Anatole Krasnyansky but also Itzchak Tarkay as well.

Ann Marie, Tim, Tom, Laura and Jason did an exceptional job of making everyone of us feel at home while attending to our every need. Simply put, they went all out and the event could not have been any better.

What an additional surprise it was to have David Najar and his landscapes there as well. It was a breathtaking experience.

We were truly honored to have so much time with one of our favorite artists, Anatole Krasnyansky. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that we would have had the opportunity to have dinner with Mr. Krasnyansky. Mr. Krasnyansky and his wonderful wife, Nelya were always at the auctions and their joyous spirit always filled the room. After speaking personally to and getting the advice of Mr. Krasnyansky, we decided to bid on The Toreador. Being lucky enough to win the bidding, this beautiful piece will now grace the walls of our home.

Not only are the works of Mr. Krasnyansky fascinating and moving to those who have the honor to own any of his pieces, his personal story is poignant and motivational in its scope and depth. Simply put, he is an inspiration to those both inside and outside of the art community.

Wonderful Memories to Cherish

“The pleasure of attending the Park West VIP cruise was all ours. We will cherish the wonderful memories of our experience always and hope that we can see you all and the others again soon.

We attended the Park West VIP event aboard the Carnival Liberty with our top notch “art crew”. We weren’t sure what to expect and were quickly reassured that his event would be an exceptional experience for us – and it was! The team was knowledgeable, intelligent, sensible, reasonable, accommodating, reassuring, and FUN.

The art auction experience was miles above other art auctions we have attended in the past. The beauty and value of the art presented to us was beyond our imagination. Inviting the artists David Najar, Simon Bull, and Tim Yanke was inspiring and even more fun for us. I felt as though I could much better understand how they paint…creating art works from their inner space. They were each and every one of them gifted, talented, and humble men with whom it was our great pleasure to become acquainted.

We particularly enjoyed meeting and visiting with their families. It made us feel as though we would have had a similar experience had we gone on a cruise with some of the deceased master painters such as Picasso, Miro, Chagall, Renoir, Dali, or Rembrandt.

We cannot thank you enough for including us in the Park West VIP art cruising group. While at first herded together with 30 coupled strangers, we grew to bond with these people who were all tied together by each’s love of fine art works. Our common joyful experiences among the art previews, auctions, special dinners, excursions, and endless cocktail parties with your fellow guests enabled us to develop comradery and some lasting friendships with these people as well as your able minded Park West personnel.

I am going everywhere among my wide circles of friends and family raving about what a wonderful time Park West Galleries provided us on our recent cruise. We had, as Chris from England would say, a “Smashing Time!” Now we cannot wait to meet our new art purchases which truly have taken our collection to a whole new level of quality and superiority.

A Memorable Park West VIP Cruise

“I wanted to share with you some feedback about our first Park West VIP cruise. We spent last week in the Caribbean with Ann Marie, Tim, Tom, Ryan, and Megan. They made us feel like we were on an “exclusive” trip even though we were amongst 3,000 other people on the ship. Everything was well organized yet balanced our time so that we could also enjoy the islands and the events that the cruise had to offer.

Our surprise artists were Fanch, David Najar, and Leslie Lew. What a treat to meet and spend time with them. As you can imagine, we have memories that will last a lifetime!

They all made what we expected to be an “artsy-fartsy” trip into a memorable experience. Each one added their own special touch to the trip. They provided the perfect environment to learn about the art, the artists, and gave us personal consultations. Because of them, we purchased a piece of art from each of the artists that we met, and we finally added a Marc Chagall to our collection.

Thank you for including us on this vacation. Please thank them for the wonderful experiences they created for us! Without them this would have been just another cruise.”
