Park West Gallery Artist Series: The Interiorscapes of Fanch Ledan

Interior with Liberty, Fanch Ledan, Park West Gallery“Interior with Liberty” by Fanch Ledan | Park West Gallery Collection

The Park West Gallery Artist Video Series presents: Fanch Ledan
Francois Ledan (or “Fanch” — a Breton nickname for Francois) is noted for charming scenes of his native Brittany and locales from around the world, executed in a colorful ‘primitive’ or naive style.

In the following video exclusive, Park West Gallery Director Morris Shapiro talks with Fanch about his work. Fanch explains that the beauty of the world provides him with infinite subject matter for his paintings. He says he delights in enriching his works by depicting the imagery of other artists such as Seurat, Miro, Van Gogh, Matisse, Degas and Peter Max (as shown above).

[After you watch the video, be sure to visit the Park West Gallery – Fanch Ledan website to learn more about the artist.]

Cruise Ship Guests Get Bitten By the Art Bug

Cruise Ship Art Auctioneers strive to make cruising with Park West at sea an enjoyable, exciting experience for all. It is always wonderful to hear about someone’s first experiences with Park West Gallery Art Auctions – and of course we love hearing from our seasoned collectors as well!

Igor Medvedev. Shimmering. 2005.

My name is Carol and in May 2009 my sister Donna and I cruised on Royal Caribbean’s Monarch of the Seas to the Bahamas. This was my 1st cruise, and my sister’s 3rd cruise. I had never been to an art auction before, but I am an art enthusiast. My sister also had never attended an art auction and only went because I wanted to go.

I had visited the gallery on the ship and spoke with Yevgeny about the serigraph on canvas by Igor Medvedev titled Shimmering; I fell in love with it. Yevgeny signed me up for the auction. The auction information and my number were delivered to my cabin along with a Park West catalogue of the some of the artist’s works.

I did purchase Shimmering as well as a Krasnyansky and an Erte bronze medallion. My sister purchased a Krasnyansky and two Erte bronze medallions. The art all arrived safely and beautifully framed.

My sister, her husband, and 3 other couples are booked for a Mediterranean cruise in October 2010. My sister has caught the art bug and intends on purchasing a Fanch Ledan work of art on the cruise; it is one we saw on the Monarch of the Seas. This will be our way of remembering each cruise. She was also looking forward to finding a Medvedev – his landscapes are beautiful. We especially liked the way he does light and shadows.

In closing Derek and Yevgeny were very helpful and informative. The auction was a lot of fun. We are both extremely pleased with our art.”

Art Auctioneer Goes Above and Beyond at Park West Cruise Auction

Fanch. Interior with Lichtenstein. 2006. Park West GalleryPARK WEST GALLERY customers provide lots of wonderful feedback about Park West artists and art auctions. We want to share the following compliments from some art collectors who recently experienced Park West cruise art auctions at sea…

____________________________
“We recently cruised on the Carnival Fantasy and were very impressed with the staff of Park West. Lindie and Erin spent hours answering questions, educating us, and helping us decide how to begin our collection. Yasser not only spent a great deal of time running to and from lockers to bring us new pieces to look at, but his dedication and commitment went beyond anything we could ask or expect.

He volunteered to give up his personal time on disembark day to help us get our carry off items to FedEx. He waited in line with us through customs, carried the items to the taxi and even rode with us to make sure we got everything shipped alright. The first FedEx couldn’t help us because the paintings were too big, so Yasser walked the 9 blocks with us to the bigger store weighted down with 6 paintings. He then helped us find a cab and made sure we got off to the airport okay.

I was so touched that a ‘stranger’ that we’d known for only a couple of days would be so kind and genuine that it brought tears to my eyes. He wanted and asked for nothing in exchange for this tremendous act of kindness. We are very pleased and satisfied with our artwork, but what made the purchase even more memorable is the personal care and compassion that we received from this remarkable young man. There is no way that my husband and I could have done it without him.

Park West has hit the jackpot with the staff aboard the Carnival Fantasy. Lindie, Erin and Yasser – all three deserve a pat on the back. I am certain that I will remember the kindness and support that your staff provided for many years to come.

The combination of the quality of art, fair prices and tremendous customer service has insured that we will be lifetime Park West customers. Keep up the great work and don’t let those staff members get away!”
